Artist Biography

Cassidy Luteijn is a 20-year-old artist who grew up in Abbotsford, BC and now studies Visual Arts and Art Education at the University of Victoria. She loves adventuring in the great outdoors and draws inspiration from nature in her paintings. Her work comments on our relationship with Mother Earth and also delves into our interpersonal connections we make with one another.

Originally starting off as a watercolour painter, I was able to develop a keen eye for detail and a passion for artistic living that has grown to become my greatest joy in life. I started my own business selling art cards at local farmer’s markets. Being fortunate enough to continue my education in Visual Arts at the University of Victoria in September 2015, I was able to begin expanding my horizons artistically at a very quick rate. I was introduced to new disciplines such as sculpture, and video art, while simultaneously able to build off my previous experience in drawing, painting and photography. I’ve had the opportunity to be showcased alongside some amazing artists in several exhibitions. I’ve also been able help with public art projects at local art galleries such as The Reach Gallery and Museum as well as Open Space. I’m so grateful to have a strong network of people who support me, and as I continue to branch out as a professional artist, the more excited I am to see what projects the future has in store for me.
